Carroll E. Harper
Carroll Harper began his insurance career in 1975 as a Life and Disability Insurance producer, but soon found his niche assisting boomers and seniors with Medicare and Long Term Care Insurance planning.
He opened an independent agency in 1981 and later became a Supervising General Agency with a large LTCi carrier, earning many top producer awards and trips throughout the US, Canada, and abroad.
He has personally serviced LTCi claim benefits totaling in the millions of dollars, authored numerous publications on both Medicare and LTCi planning. His articles have appeared in local, regional, and national publications. He has written numerous LTCi and Medicare CE courses and continues to maintain a production leadership position with numerous LTCi and Medicare companies. He authors a quarterly newsletter for financial planners, elder law attorneys, bankers, producers and other professionals.
He has worked tirelessly with Maine legislators to bring about positive change to provide greater consumer protection for Maine’s LTCi and Medicare consumers.
His trademark educational approach to LTCi and Medicare has earned him the respect of numerous industry-related professionals.
He conducts his business with a simple service philosophy, “take care of them and they’ll take care of you”! From day one and to this day, he believes that service is the most important part of the business. He believes strongly that is the reason his business continues its growth based on referrals from existing clients and other professionals, knowing that they will be taken care of at claim time.
Carroll, along with his capable staff is dedicated to the corporate motto of “unequaled commitment to service”!
Carroll enjoys bass fishing with his son, grandson, and great grandson, working side by side with his grandson on weekend projects, carving birds and writing music and playing golf.
Jane Harper
Jane joined the agency in 1993 to head up the accounting department. Her job involves distribution of producer compensation, fulfilling timely Federal and State tax requirements, overseeing accounts payable and receivable, payroll, as well as tracking company commissions and working with our corporate accounting firm. Jane is a licensed Health and Life Producer.
Jane came from a background of working in the local school system as well as in the trust department of a local bank prior to joining the insurance business.
She enjoys photography, babying the family German Shepard dog, and summer visits from the little grand girls from California!
Jill K. Murphy

Jill joined Carroll Harper & Associates in August of 2011 taking on the role of Administrative Assistant. She is our Agency Operations Manager and is Licensed in the State of Maine as a Health and Life Insurance Producer.
Her responsibilities include processing Long Term Care Insurance quotes and claims, working with clients to resolve Medicare billing and claim issues, working with Producers regarding licensing and contracting, training and certifications, as well as, working with associates on training and benefits administration and assisting with compliance. Organization is her strong suit.
Jill attended Husson College in Bangor Maine and has taken classes with the University of Maine in Insurance, Banking, and Investments.
Jill has worked previously as a Pharmacy Technician, Bank Teller, and in the MDI school system.
In addition to raising and spending time with her family which is of utmost importance to Jill, she has spent numerous hours volunteering for the local Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, schools and churches.
When not, (and more often while), enjoying her beautiful family, Jill fills her pastime with hiking, biking, kayaking, photography, reading, cake decorating, and quilting.
Susan Guthrie

Susan joined our agency in 2012. She is our Broker Comp. and a licensed Health and Life Producer.
Susan assists with accounts payable and Producer compensation.
Susan is responsible for miscellaneous duties that can arise at any given moment.
Susan held a CNA/M designation and previously worked in local nursing facilities.
Susan attended the University of Maine Augusta studying Health Information Management and received an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts.
Susan enjoys hiking and biking in Acadia National Park.
Jay Pearl
With over 30 years of experience, Jay specializes in advising individuals and employer plans throughout New England on Medicare education and implementation. Jay began his insurance career in 1988 and has worked with Financial Benefit Services Corporation providing Insurance Brokerage and Financial Services since 1993.
Jay maintains offices in Portland and Bangor and sees clients throughout New England. Jay graduated from Husson College with a degree in Business Management.
Jay lives in Topsham with his wife Darcy and son Carter. In his free time, he enjoys, music, boating, and golfing.

Matthew LaHaye
Matt joined Carroll Harper & Associates as an agent in 2007. Matt is a licensed Health and Life Producer.
Matt grew up in Belfast and graduated from the University of Maine Farmington in 2003 majoring in Business and Sports Management. He brings over a decade of experience in the Medicare Market earning recognition for his consistent service to his clients.
He lives in Trenton with his wife, daughter, and son. He enjoys spending time with his family, enjoying the outdoors and the beauty of MDI! Matt is a volunteer firefighter for Southwest Harbor. He also has a certificate in Turf Management which he has applied to his love of the game of golf!

Jaime Nangle

Jaime joined Carroll Harper & Associates in January of 2024, taking on the role of Administrative Assistant. Her responsibilities include assisting with the processing of Medicare applications and all follow up procedures, scheduling appointments, assisting with Medicare billing and claim issues, maintaining files, and processing mailings.
Throughout her professional career, Jaime has been recognized for her attention to detail, proactive mindset, and discretion, along with exceptional problem-solving and interpersonal skills, and she looks forward to utilizing those strengths at Carroll Harper & Associates.
Jaime attended Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts and has a BA in Psychology.
Jaime previously worked as an Operations Manager at Massachusetts General Hospital and Client Service Specialist with Partners Healthcare. Her responsibilities included writing job descriptions, reviewing application materials, implementing an annual performance evaluation system, providing customer service, and analyzing financial, procurement, and recruitment data to improve purchasing, accounts payable, and recruitment operations. Jaime also has experience working as a Sales Representative and Administrator for a telecommunications company.
Jaime is thrilled to be back in Maine, living and working in the town where she grew up and is grateful to be spending more time with family now that she lives nearby. Jaime enjoys hiking in Acadia, crocheting, crafting, pet-sitting, and spending time with family and her fur babies.

Amy joined Carroll Harper & Associates in September of 2024 taking on the role of Office Assistant. Her responsibilities include answering the phone, scheduling meetings, greeting clients, assisting with the preparation of Medicare meetings, and processing of Medicare applications.
Amy’s holds an Associates degree in Business Administration from Ocean County College in Toms River, New Jersey. She has also earned various certifications, including Pharmacy Technician, Hotel & Restaurant Management, Fitness and Nutrition, and Crime Scene Investigation. She is currently working toward her Medical Billing and Coding certification.
Amy’s diverse work background includes experience as a certified Pharmacy Technician, a Bank Teller, a Teacher’s Aide with the PCCSD School System, and an Operations Assistant at United School Supplies in Sandusky, Ohio.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Amy takes pride in her role as a Coast Guard spouse and mother. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, puzzles, diamond painting, reading, and cherishing moments with her family and her dog.
